IV.         Chill Smart - Alcohol Youth Initiative. Tara Oliver reported on the Chill Smart Youth Group.  Family Fun Day is September 23, 2006.  The youth group would like to have dinner at Kennedy Park.  Lisa Hammond stated she would check if this conflicts with the tentative community kick off with the Kiwanis.   The Chill Smart youth group has approximately 26-30 members that meet every other Tuesday at 6:30 pm – 7:30 pm at the Harbor.  The meeting planned for 7/11 will be a game night and finalization of the Skate Party.  The skate party will be free to Chill Smart Members and $1.00 admission for others.  Tresa and Tara desperately need chaperones to help.  The chaperones can bring their own children for no fee.   There was a discussion of age group and parental attendance which will be encouraged but not required.

Baltimore Conference.  The National Underage Drinking Leadership conference will be held August 23-26, 2006.  The participant selected to date are:  Lisa Hammond, Tara Oliver, Donna Burchfield, the Chill Smart members selected are:  Creshawna, Rosetta, Sierra and Jakara.   Tresa Watson was hoping that an officer or SRO could attend with the group.  Deputy Sandra O’Banner said she would be interested in attending if the school, and Sheriff approved the trip.   Tresa Watson stated she would contact the Sheriff for permission and approval for Deputy O’Banner to attend.

Community Kick Off.  Lisa Hammond will present to the Hernando County Kiwanis Club an overview of the Coalition, YAPPI, and Chill Smart to see if they will partner with us on the Community Kick Off.  This would be an excellent fit and opportunity for both organizations.

Art Contest.  Tresa Watson stated that school opening is approaching and wanted to have the art contest organization at the beginning of school so that all schools and students can participate if they would like.   The art contest will need to be finalized by September 15, 2006, so that the billboard can be billed to the YAPPI grant that ends September 30, 2006.

V.           SPF-SIG.   Lisa Hammond stated that with the SPF-SIG projects 2 & 3 there will be funding for community mobilization.  Contracts had been delayed from the Federal “Drug Free Communities” office.  They are expected to be in Florida the 3rd week in July and to counties the last week in July.   Lisa Hammond distributed portions of the business plan.  The Coalition is looking for $10,000 in cash donations next year.

VI.         Drug Free Communities.  Tresa Watson reported that the coalition submitted for the $100,000 Drug Free Communities Grant for a project entitled “The Grand Connection”.  The application has made it through 4 reviews and is currently in peer review.  HCCADC will have an answer if funded sometime in September.

VII.        Finances.   Lisa Hammond reported that through the community mobilization the coalition needs funding from sources other than grants.  We need in kind donations, materials and cash.  HCCADC is also looking for an accountant donation to file the 2005 990 Tax Return. Sandra Marrero reported that all aspects of the grant have been completed with a high approval, and all reports have been submitted to the Rick Howell at FSU.  HCCADC also has received a $1000.00 minigrant to develop a brochure for preschool parents with the focus on alcohol and drugs.

VIII.           Adjournment.  Tresa Watson called for a motion to adjourn at 5:00 pm, seconded by Brian Perrin for dismissal.   Motion Carried.
