Commission for a Drug Free Florida

This bill creates a state commission to oversee efforts to address alcohol and other drug (AOD) problems over the entire state

It creates and empowers a Local Community Council (LCC) and/or a Community Coalition in each county to address problems on a local level.

It creates a Community Drug Fund in each county through reasonable additional fines imposed on convicted offenders of alcohol and other drug offenses that occur in that county.

It mandates that 25% of the funds collected over the year shall go to the Commission for a Drug Free Florida, and 75% shall stay in the local county where 1/4th must be spent on programs addressing prevention, 1/4th treatment and 1/4th enforcement with the remaining fourth to be allocated at the council’s discretion.

Commission for a Drug Free Florida needs a House Representative!! Please contact Tresa Watson at 352-596-8000.
